Taking Up the Cross

Are you resisting that current cross of yours? Doing everything in your power to overcome it? Grieved or angered and can’t seem to find peace in it? Have you done all you can do and find yourself coming up empty handed?

I have been there…multiple times. I know that this time is frustrating, heart-wrenching, and beyond difficult. You may feel powerless and alone in the struggle to carry your cross.

In the Gospels, Jesus tells us to take up our cross and He gives us a path for doing that through the Passion story:

  1. Grieve and pray fervently to accept God’s will, whatever it may be.

  2. Take up your cross and embrace it; leverage the support God gives you along the way.

  3. Face the sufferings it brings you with as much courage and strength as you can muster.

  4. Wait with hopeful expectancy. Let God lead you to your resurrection.

This is our hope as people of faith: The cross always leads to resurrection whether in this life or the next. Joy will come and God’s glory will shine through whatever cross He gives us, just like it did with Jesus. Carrying so many crosses in my own life, I’ve seen this unfold first-hand. Believe it, sister!

Come, let us take up our cross, with Jesus by our side, and walk the way of the cross towards our resurrection.

What Does God Want to Change in You?

So often we ask “What does God want me to do” and “What do I most want to do” when it comes to our decisions about our vocation.  Rather, I’d like to pose the question that I think God asks of us more
