He Comforts All Her Waste Places

For the Lord comforts Zion;

he comforts all her waste places

and makes her wilderness like Eden,

her desert like the garden of the Lord;

joy and gladness will be found in her,

thanksgiving and the voice of song.

Isaiah 51:3

This verse may resonate with you. In a time of waiting, your life can feel full of waste places. Waiting for a spouse, children, healing, or more fulfilling work can feel like wasted time, especially when the months and years keep passing. I have often said during long years of waiting that it just feels like I’m wasting time waiting for these desires of my heart to come to pass.

This passage from Isaiah is a reminder that the Lord comforts you in all your waste places – in all those moments you feel like time, energy, effort, and the days of your life are going to waste. He is making those waste places, your wilderness, and your desert into a fruitful garden that will one day come to pass.

Fruitfulness will come to pass. Your life WILL blossom in the ways God designed it too. It’s the Lord’s promise to His daughters. Joy, gladness, and thanksgiving will echo from your mouths and hearts.

In the meantime, find comfort in your God in those waste places for they are the seeds of your future garden.
